I am starting a monthly residency at The Tranzac Club! The first date is November 12th from 1:30-2:30 and I will be joined by my friend and bandmate Asa. Then things will switch to the 3rd Saturday of the month (December 17, January 21st) with a new guest each month. Pay What You Can! 292 Brunswick Ave., Toronto, Ontario M5S 2M7
I met Asa in Junior Kindergarten and we became best friends. After a couple of years we ended up at different schools and eventually lost touch before re-connecting at a Junior Beekeepers class where we discovered we both have a passion for bees and making music.
We are both appearing in the new Kinnie Starr produced documentary on women in music called “Play Your Gender” being featured on November 11th at 3:30pm as part of the Hamilton Film Festival. We will be following the screening with a free (pay what you can) show at This Ain’t the Hollywood. Doors at 6, music from 6:30-7:30pm.
Find out more about the documentary here: www.playyourgender.com and the film festival here: www.hamiltonfilmfestival.c
Additionally, I will be playing with Kingdom of Birds on December 10th at D Beatstro opening for Come Back Barbara (all ages show) and on December 11th at 4 pm at the Dakota Tavern.
It will be an amazing way to get out and catch some music on a Sunday afternoon over the holidays.
When I was 7, I got to play at Hugh’s Room with some amazing musicians for a Greenpeace fundraiser and the launch of the Amchitka CD. It was thrilling and paved the way for me to fall in love with Joni Mitchell (I even got to see her play at the tribute concert for her 70th birthday). I have had a chance to play there a few times since then but on February 16th I will get to take part in the Discoveries show but on by the wonderful Jane Harbury. I can’t wait to play with some other emerging musicians and hope you will be there!
For the fourth year, I will be selling my buttons, jewelry, seasonal cards and this year my EP at the Dufferin Grove Craft Show. I also have some magnets which are a new item. In addition to selling my crafty wares, I will be busking at 11:30 & 2:30pm. It is going to be an amazing day at the park so come by and bring your skates and your wallet.
The Tranzac Club has been an incedibly important place for me. I feel like it is where I have grown up as a musician since my first Girls Rock Camp when I was only 8 years old. It is where I decided to hold my CD launch and I see already what an important place it is for the arts community in Toronto. So I am honoured to be playing at the Fall Feast on Sunday and excited that one of my other Girl Rock Toronto friends, the amazing Marlowe Dondertman will also be sharing her sweet songs. I hope you can make it out. I heard the food is divine.
After a 6 month hiatus, the next Sugar Mountain Sunday will be taking place on November 29th at La Revolucion (2848 Dundas St. West/ Keele & Dundas). Sign up starts at 130pm, music begins at 2pm.
